The Youth Peace Forum (2026) Follow-up Briefing Session of the Myanmar Interfaith Dialogue Organization (Central Committee) was held in line with the theme “Promoting Youth Participation in Peace and Nation-Building.”The session took place on 21 February 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in the Central Committee Meeting Hall of the Organization.
At the opening, U Wunna, Chairperson of the Central Committee, delivered the opening remarks. In his address, he referred to and highlighted key points from the speech delivered by the Head of State at the opening ceremony of the Youth Peace Forum (2026). He emphasized that young people play a vital role in shaping the future of the nation, and that the forum was organized with the objective of enhancing youth participation in peacebuilding and national development.
He further stated that today’s youth represent an invaluable human resource for the country’s development and are the future leaders who will shoulder national responsibilities. As such, youth constitute a major driving force of the nation. He noted that the Republic of the Union of Myanmar is home to 135 ethnic groups, and that young people aged 15 to 35 make up approximately one-third (33%) of the total population.
He stressed that the correct mindset, values, beliefs, and attitudes of young people are essential national requirements, and that these qualities are a crucial force in achieving lasting and sustainable peace. The intellectual development of youth, he said, represents the future of the country. He underscored that while formal education produces capable individuals, knowledge cultivates good character, and that continuous reading of books and general knowledge materials is essential for developing wisdom.
He encouraged participants to share the knowledge, insights, and experiences gained through discussions with fellow youth from various states and regions, and to work collaboratively in the areas of national reconstruction, national unity, and peacebuilding in order to collectively build a modern, developed, and peaceful future nation.
Subsequently, U Win Kyaw Swar, Chairperson of the Central Supporting Youth Affairs Working Committee, who served as a facilitator at the Youth Peace Forum (2026), presented and explained his experiences from the forum.
